The music business is not an easy place to be these days. Record companies aren’t supporting new artists like they used to so for many bands and musicians, the onus falls on them to take ownership of marketing themselves.
Matinee Idol are brothers Mark and Martin Thomson, a team with years of producing credits behind them with other artists. The dance track ‘Good Time’ is the first track they have released themselves, and we were fortunate enough to be chosen by them to make the video.
Mark came to us with a pretty strong idea of what he wanted, a night out shot entirely from the protagonist’s POV. We shot in Glasgow in a poker club on Bridge Street – Cincinnati’s was the first poker club in Glasgow, and still has a flourishing clientele. Creating a mobile lighting rig we turned it for one evening into a club, and filled it with a brilliant group of willing extras who spent about six hours dancing.
We shot the majority of the video on a Canon 5D handheld and GoPro – before it was so popular.
Mark Thomson, Matinee IdolFantastic, Muckle Hen are ready to go the extra mile. Showed utter commitment and total enthusiasm for the project. We are extremely happy with the results. Really brought our vision to life.
