Muckle Hen / Disability History Scotland
Disability History, Scotland wanted to show the impact of WWI on the treatment and perception of disabilities in Scotland.
The film would accompany a ‘memory chest‘ which would tour schools and community events to raise awareness amongst as wide an audience as possible. We immediately thought the objects from the chest could be personified to represent different disabilities and make a playful stop-frame animation, which would draw in children and adults objects. We created an audio track from interviews with the group so the narration was in their own words. And then working with stop frame animator Claire Lammond, we developed a story and world which brought them to life in a beautifully hand crafted world.
We are so proud of this beautifully crafted and powerful film – we hope this will be a great vehicle for change.

The end result is nothing like we imagined, it is better and sharper in every way, the difference between dull cloudy sky as seen from the ground, and the clearest bright blue, clear sky as seen from an aircraft above the clouds.
